SCB is an award winning multi-disciplinary design firm with a national presence. We are looking for creative, passionate, and driven project architects to work on aviation projects in our Chicago office.

Ideal candidates will exhibit a passion for design, show a willingness to work in a collaborative environment, and possess an advanced understanding of building materials, systems, details and construction techniques. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of talented and collaborative professionals on all aspects of project design and development under the direct supervision of a Senior Architect and/or Principal. You will also closely collaborate with the project team, including consultants, to prepare design studies, graphic representations, technical drawings, studies, and other materials related to architectural design.
Essential Skills/Attributes
Interested candidate should have the following qualifications:
- Accredited professional degree in architecture
- 5-15 years post-graduate, full-time working experience in an architectural firm
- Licensed Architect in the U.S.
- Experience in aviation, transportation, or complex public projects preferred
- Working knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, local zoning ordinances and building codes
- Display technical knowledge of building systems, material assemblies, and engineering concepts
- Ability to lead a project including consultants and internal staff
- A strong design sensibility
- Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, Newforma and Excel; familiarity with software programs such as Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino, Affinity and Adobe Creative Suite
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement project design philosophy and work toward the successful execution of the project through design and construction phases
- Lead team meetings and client presentations, working closely with multidisciplinary teams
- Mentor and train junior staff in a constructive and thoughtful manner
- Organize the work efforts of SCB’s project team on a day-to-day basis and function as the primary facilitator of communication between the in-house team and external consultants
- Research and promote opportunities for new or innovative system applications; proactively look for and implement processes to improve work product and efficiency.
Compensation
- Salary: $75,000 – $125,000 depending on experience
