BostonSCB is seeking talented Project Architects with a focus on Interior Design to join our Boston office. We’re a national, multi-disciplinary design firm with a focus on multi-family residential, adaptive reuse, hospitality, commercial office, academic, and aviation projects.

We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about design, collaborative by nature, and possess a full understanding of materials, furniture, details and construction techniques. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of talented professionals on all aspects of project design and development under the direct supervision of a Design Director and/or Principal. You will also closely collaborate with the project team, including consultants, to prepare design studies, material and furniture palettes, graphic representations, technical drawings, studies, and other materials related to interior design.
Your Qualifications
- Accredited professional degree in interior design or architecture
- 10+ years post-graduate, full-time working experience in a design or architectural firm
- NCIDQ Certificate Holder, Registered Interior Designer or Licensed Architect preferred
- A strong design sensibility, attention to detail, and knowledge of emerging trends
- Thorough understanding of all project phases including programming, space planning, color and material selections, FF&E selections, schematic design, design development, and construction documents
- Capable of performing all construction phase activities including review of shop drawings, material samples, responding to Contractor questions (RFI’s) and conducting site visits
- Working knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, local building codes and accessibility requirements
- Ability to lead a project including consultants and internal staff
- Proficient in Revit, Bluebeam, and graphics software such as Affinity and Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with software programs such as Enscape, SketchUp, and Rhino
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Multi-family residential, Hospitality, Commercial Office, Lab or Aviation project experience preferred
The Role
- Implement project design philosophy and work toward the successful execution of the project through design and construction phases
- Develop design and technical drawings, visualizations, and studies in collaboration with project leaders
- Exhibit a thorough working knowledge of innovative interior architectural finishes, including familiarity with manufacturers and performance standards to meet the client’s expectations
- Ensure that the design intent is clearly and accurately reflected in the technical drawings and specifications
- Lead the FF&E selection, specification, and procurement process from concept through execution
- Organize the work efforts of SCB’s project team on a day-to-day basis and function as the primary facilitator of communication between the in-house team, external consultants, and the client
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, including direct coordination with design consultants, contractors, clients and authorities having jurisdiction
- Lead team meetings and client presentations, working closely with multidisciplinary teams
- Mentor and train junior staff in a constructive and thoughtful manner
- Engage with the project and studio team with a positive, team-first attitude and willingness to learn and contribute to the project and firm’s success

- Salary: $105,000 – $145,000 depending on experience
