Lou Gale joined SCB in 2014 and serves as the firm’s General Counsel.  In addition to his breadth of experience in construction and commercial law, litigation, and government practice, Lou worked as a structural engineer before becoming a lawyer.

As General Counsel, Lou provides legal advice and manages nearly every aspect of the firm’s legal needs. Lou coordinates, and is involved in, the negotiations of contracts; manages outside counsel and court related matters; prepares presentations and policies for SCB; participates in business development and governmental affairs activities; and works on general corporate, regulatory, and licensing matters.

Prior to joining SCB, Lou worked as an attorney in private practice focused on commercial litigation, product safety, construction litigation, employment law, and business transactions. Lou also served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. Prior to his legal career, Lou worked as a project engineer in Chicago for an international engineering firm and carried a professional engineer’s license.  Lou’s engineering experience includes new construction projects, renovations, and investigations.

Lou received his J.D. and a Master and Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Illinois and is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois. Lou participates on behalf of SCB on the Legal Subcommittee of the AIA Large Firm Roundtable and serves as a Trustee on the Village Board of LaGrange, Illinois.
