Project Manager

ChicagoSCB is seeking talented Project Managers to join our Chicago office. We’re a national, multi-disciplinary design firm with a focus on multi-family residential, adaptive reuse, academic, and aviation projects.

We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about design, collaborative by nature, and possess an advanced understanding of building materials, systems, detailing, and construction methods. A strong understanding of project management fundamentals, including contracts, scheduling, fee proposals, and consultant management is essential. You will have the opportunity to work with a team of talented professionals on all aspects of project design and development under the direct supervision of a Principal. You will be responsible for overall project performance while building lasting client relationships.
Your Qualifications
- Accredited professional degree in architecture
- 15+ years post-graduate, full-time working experience in an architectural firm
- Licensed Architect in the U.S.
- A strong design sensibility and attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to organize and lead the efforts of multiple project teams simultaneously
- Proficiency with contracts, project schedules, fee proposals, staffing and invoicing procedures
- Advanced knowledge of, and demonstrated experience with, local zoning ordinances and building codes
- Advanced technical knowledge of building systems, material assemblies, and engineering concepts
- Capable of overseeing all construction phase activities including review of shop drawings, responding to Contractor questions (RFI’s), and key site visits
- Proficient in Bluebeam, Newforma, Excel, Vantagepoint and scheduling software like MS Project; familiarity with software programs such as Revit, Enscape, SketchUp, Rhino, Affinity and Adobe Creative Suite
- Multi-family residential or aviation project experience preferred
The Role
- Implement project design philosophy and work toward the successful execution of the project through design and construction phases
- Represent SCB to clients in a manner that generates trust and cultivates long-term relationships
- Lead and organize the work efforts of the entire project team and function as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders including the client and any authorities having jurisdiction
- Establish, track and clearly communicate project priorities and key milestones to the project team
- Manage all team members and delegate effectively to meet project deadlines
- Organize and lead team meetings and client presentations, working closely with multidisciplinary teams
- Coordinate and maintain staffing, invoicing, and revenue and performance projections in alignment with firm goals
- Prepare design services proposals for SCB services and support office leadership in the negotiation and execution of client contracts
- Lead the consultant procurement process, including evaluating proposals and developing contracts for awarded teams
- Mentor and train junior staff in a constructive and thoughtful manner
- Engage with the project and studio team with a positive, team-first attitude and willingness to lead and contribute to the project and firm’s success

- Salary: $125,000 – $165,000 depending on experience
