IBEW’s 84,000-square-foot facility is the headquarters for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 701 in western suburban Chicago.

The project combines three separate functions in one building. The two-story east wing supports union classrooms and workshops; the west wing houses union offices and administrative functions; and the circular form overlooking the water feature retention pond is designed to support multiple functions such as banquets, union meetings, and lectures. The central naturally-lit atrium visually unifies these three diverse functions while allowing each to operate independently.
The design exposes modern construction technology in response to users coming to the facility to learn a building trade.
