SCB’s design for the Terminal 5 Parking Garage at O’Hare International Airport has been recognized with an Engineering News-Record Regional Best Projects 2025 Award of Merit.

The Terminal 5 Parking Garage is a six-level, 1,704 space facility designed to support the existing terminal and provide public parking for travelers. Part of the greater O’Hare 21 program, the $8.5 billion expansion and renovation of the terminal complex, the facility is now a striking arrival backdrop for all visitors to O’Hare.

Inspired by the movement of air, the structure consists of six efficient floor plates with two helix ramps at both ends, curbside expansion options, and pedestrian circulation cores near the existing T5 building. From these cores, passengers and visitors access one of the airport’s highest publicly accessible vantage points, offering clear views of T5, the terminal complex, and the airfield.
