ULI Philadelphia Recognizes The Laurel as a 2025 Awards for Excellence Winner

Date Published

SCB’s design for The Laurel has been honored with an Award for Excellence from ULI Philadelphia, selected by a national jury from a competitive field of 14 finalists. The award recognizes projects that exemplify the highest standards of design, development, and community impact.

Located on Rittenhouse Square, The Laurel is a bold yet contextual addition to Philadelphia’s skyline, advancing the neighborhood’s architectural legacy while redefining urban living as the city’s tallest residential building. The 583,000-square-foot, mixed-use tower comprises 66 luxury condominiums, 184 high-end apartments, and 44,000 square feet of retail space.

Drawing inspiration from the rich character of the surrounding neighborhood, the design emphasizes materiality, rhythm, and proportion. From the nearby cobblestone streets and historic steeples to masonry façades and rowhouse stoops, The Laurel thoughtfully aligns with its context while asserting its presence. The result is a high-performance, livable, and elegant residential experience that speaks to the transformative power of design in historically significant urban settings.

The ULI Philadelphia Awards are modeled after the ULI Global Awards for Excellence and celebrate projects that reflect the organization’s mission: to shape the future of the built environment for transformative community impact.
