SCB announces three prominent leadership promotions as the firm continues to evolve and expand across industry sectors and regions nationwide.

Renee Sprogis-Marohn, AIA, has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, Jonathan Orlove, AIA, has been promoted to Principal and Managing Director of the Chicago office, and Paul Schlapobersky, AIA, LEED AP, has been promoted to Principal and Director of Planning and Urban Design.

Renee Sprogis-Marohn joins the executive leadership team at the firm as COO. A Principal at SCB, Renee played an integral role in the growth and success of SCB’s interior design practice. She helped expand the firm’s aviation practice, managing the design and delivery of United Airlines’ Clubs and Polaris lounges in over 25 airports worldwide. “Renee is a natural leader,” says SCB President Chris Pemberton. “She understands the importance of building and supporting an experienced and talented team and how that translates into success for the firm. This is core to her new role as our COO.”

Jonathan Orlove joined SCB in 2021, bringing over three decades of expertise honed previously at Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture as the Director of Project Management and SOM as an Associate Partner and Project Manager. His experience on award-winning projects spans a variety of sectors and project types throughout the world, making him a valuable addition to the firm’s leadership team. With his promotion, Jonathan also assumes the role of Managing Director in the firm’s Chicago office. “Jon’s depth of experience and wealth of knowledge set him up perfectly to take on this new oversight role for the Chicago office,” says Pemberton. “Maintaining high-level performance is critical to the firm’s success, and I trust Jon will succeed on all fronts.”

Paul Schlapobersky becomes a Principal and the new director of the firm’s planning and urban design practice. As both a planner and architect, Paul continues the firm’s long tradition of integrating the two disciplines to create visionary and actionable plans across all scales, from cities to districts to campuses. Based in the firm’s Boston office, Paul brings over twenty years of experience to clients across the nation and around the globe. “Paul’s urban design approach has a clear vision of the hidden dependencies, invisible forces, and social dynamics that influence why people move, congregate, and adopt behaviors around their built environment,” says Clara Wineberg, Principal and Executive Director of SCB’s Boston office. “With the significant disruptions we are experiencing in urban areas, and the opportunities these are creating, we are excited to have Paul lead SCB’s national urban design practice, using his expertise to execute impactful work.”

“Each of these leaders exhibits the innovative, collaborative, and grounded work ethic that SCB is known for,” says Pemberton. “Their promotions ensure a strong sense of stability and sustainability for the firm.”
