Sheyla Conforte is a Principal at SCB and the Executive Director of Interior Design. Since 2009, she has led the firm’s interior design practice, setting the design strategy for corporate and institutional projects and overseeing all aspects of the studios in Chicago, San Francisco, and Boston. Under her leadership, SCB’s Interiors studios have grown to upwards of 40 designers, revenue has tripled, and the portfolio now regularly includes work for Fortune 500 and 100 clients such as Mondelez, Hub Group, Walgreens, and United Airlines. In addition to independent interior design projects, the Interiors studios also supports SCB’s architectural practice, designing the interiors of many of the firm’s award-winning multi-family residential, office, and higher education projects.
Sheyla has a unique sense of design, materiality, and detailing. She considers the workplace a strategic corporate resource and believes that a well-designed, environmentally conscious work setting can enhance employee productivity and a company’s overall performance. Her expertise is enhanced by her prior professional experience in account management and client development, which provided her with a strong foundation in client stewardship and a deep understanding of brand alignment. She works closely with clients across the office, residential, and higher education markets to achieve their vision for their space.
Sheyla’s recent projects include the 120,000 SF headquarters for Hinshaw and Culbertson, a Chicago-based national law firm; the innovative collaborative learning environment for the new Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing at Loyola University Chicago; and United Clubs and Polaris Lounges around the globe, including the award-winning lounge at London’s Heathrow International Airport. A member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), she holds a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University, and Associate Degree in Interior Design from Harrington College of Design and is an NCIDQ certified interior designer.
