Noting the appeal of this parcel in terms of its proximity to the city, the I-95 corridor, and the commuter rail system flanking the expressway, Barron Real Estate and SCB created a masterplan that envisioned an entirely new model for development of traditionally underutilized property. A modern office park formed the nucleus of the plan: state-of-the-art office buildings configured around a central axis emanating from Broward Boulevard. This axis culminated in a "town center" overlooking an existing lake to the north, and activated by retail, restaurants, and a variety of amenities supporting the development. The full implementation of the masterplan would dramatically alter the image of the neighborhood - the vibrant corporate office park punctuated by tree-lined boulevards and attractive pedestrian spaces would radically improve this primary gateway into Fort Lauderdale.
